CUEVAS Y CÍA JOINS THE CHALLENGE OF THE INNOVATECH FP PROGRAM

Last Thursday took place in Santiago de Compostela, a great event within the framework of the InnovaTech FP program of the Xunta de Galicia. An initiative that offers us the opportunity to connect once again the links with training and emerging talent, through the launch of an innovation challenge to VET students.

Rocío Cid, manager of Cuevas y Cía, presented the challenge proposed by Grupo Cuevas: To optimise the chestnut peeling process for the production of Marron Glacé, with the aim of improving efficiency and reducing production costs. The current process uses a delicate steam peeling system, which allows us to maintain the integrity of the chestnut, complemented with laborious manual controls.

During the day, different companies presented their challenges in a general way and then met more closely with each group of students, going into the details of each challenge and resolving more specific questions and doubts.

The participating teams, with professional training and support from the Centro Galego da Innovación da Formación Profesional. Centro Eduardo Barreiros, will present their initial proposals in January and the final solution in June.
